Use of Introductory There in English.

The sentences below do not have specific subjects. Here 'There' is used as a subject to introduce the fact of the sentence.

1. There is a school in our village.
2. There is a tiger in this jangle.
3. There are five doctors in our village.
4. There is a lot of fish in your pond.
5. There are many rivers in our country.
6. There is no ink in this pen.
7. Is there any flower in your garden?
8. Is there anybody in the house?
9. Once there is a king.
10. There was a lot of noise in the street.

When the sentence lakes of a definite subject to denote the fact, There is used to express the situation or things as an introducer about which is talked in the sentence. There is used to narrate the existence of something or somebody.
